Meet James Crumpton, METRO Links paratransit operator. James joined Rock Region METRO in November 2017 after working as a soda truck delivery driver for New Age Distribution.

Prior to working as a Links paratransit operator, James says his work lacked customer interaction; something for which he was searching. For James, “being able to interact with customers… getting to know them and see them day-to-day” has been the most rewarding aspect of his job at METRO.

“I’m a server,” says James, “I enjoy serving my customers and being able to provide transportation for central Arkansans who may not otherwise have transportation.”

Over the last three years, James says his favorite moments have involved learning how riders with disabilities navigate the varying challenges of their daily lives.

“I don’t have family members who are affected by visual impairments or have to go to dialysis treatment; this job has helped broaden my understanding of others’ lives.”

What does it take to be a successful Links paratransit operator?

“Great customer service skills, flexibility and discipline,” says James.

The golden rule gets the job done: treat others the way you would like to be treated.”

Outside of work, James enjoys attending church, spending time with his family and, when given the chance, traveling to new places, trying new foods and learning new things.
