Meet Wendy Hunter, Rock Region METRO’s assistant director of finance. Hunter joined METRO in October 2019, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and financial expertise gained as an audit manager for a local CPA firm.

In her current role as assistant director of finance, Hunter works closely with METRO’s chief financial officer and is responsible for METRO’s accounting, treasury, payroll, budget, financial reporting and analysis; grant accounting and management and the procurement of METRO’s major assets such as transit vehicles, METRO properties and customer facilities.

Hunter was integral in the recent completion and implementation of a new procurement software solution, which will provide METRO with an enhanced procure-to-pay process. This software supports one of METRO’s 2021 strategic imperatives, which is to improve internal competencies in preparation for future growth.

“This system will ultimately result in greater process efficiencies,” notes Hunter.

Since joining METRO, Hunter says that she has come to understand that public transit is a vital necessity for the various communities it serves.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us all how important public transit services are for the riders who rely on them as their sole means of transportation.”

In her spare time, Hunter enjoys spending time with her husband and their three sons.
